1954
A diesel engine factory was established within 3. Maj Shipyard
3. Maj Shipyard and “Sulzer Brothers Limited” entered into a license agreement for the production and sale of Sulzer type diesel engines.
The license agreement was subsequently renewed in 1968, 1982 and 1998. The new license agreement is valid until December 31, 2009.
1961 The first of five slow speed engines (type 6RD76) 7360 bhp, was built under the license of Sulzer and installed in to m/v ”Joseph Conrad” for a Polish owner.
1972
New machines and equipment were provided and new plants were built
14 engines - total output 126 490 kW (172 026 hp)
1976
Started production of the following medium-speed engines under the “3. Maj - Pielstick” license:
Pc 2-5, 2870 - 8,610 kW Pc 2-6, 3300 - 9,900 kW Pc 4-2, 6075 - 10,935 kW Pc 40, 6075 - 10,935 kW
Output range: 2,870 - 21,870 kW
Speed range: 350 - 520 rpm
Delivered 24 engines, with a total output 90,920 kW
1977 Started production of slewing deck cranes under the “MacGREGOR - Hägglunds” license, including electro-hydraulic cargo cranes, single/twin hydraulic and electro-hydraulic service, hose handling cranes, provision cranes and engine room cranes.
1984
The first CNC machine was introduced.
1989
The 3. Maj MiD was the first in the world to built a 5RTA72.
1990
The 3. Maj MiD delivered a 5RTA58 in one piece to an East German shipyard
1991
Manufactured a 6-cylinder RTA38 research engine intended for a Mobil refinery at Notre Dame de Gravenchon in France.
1992.
Assembled a 6RTA72 (16,440 kW), at the time the most powerful marine diesel engine in Croatia
2000.
The first “IMO - NOx” marine diesel engine in Croatia, the 6RTA52 (7900kW) was built.
2002.
7RTA72U-B (21,560 kW at 95 rpm), the most powerful diesel engine ever built in Croatia.
