3. Maj Motori i Dizalice (3. Maj Engines and Cranes) is a large, modern diesel engine and deck crane factory. We are known worldwide within the shipbuilding industry as 3. Maj - Rijeka. Our main production program is the assembly of diesel engines, deck cranes, as well as the related service and spare parts.

The beginning of the factory dates back to 1954 when a license agreement with the Swiss firm Sulzer Disel LTD - Winterthur was signed. In 1961 we built our first marine diesel engine. Since then, 222 slow-speed engines of various types have been produced under this license. Because of our success, we have been able to expand production.

In 1974 we began producing the S.E.M.T. - Pielstick medium-speed diesel engines under the license of the French firm S.E.M.T. - Saint Denis. A total of 24 medium speed engines were produced until the expiration of our license in 1989.

The production of deck cranes started in 1977 and currently accounts for a significant portion of production. Our cranes have been produced under the license of a Swedish firm Hägglunds - Oernskoeldsvik, which is now known as MacGREGOR. Since 1977 we have produced 328 various types of cargo and service slewing deck cranes. Our deck crane production program consists of single and twin electrohydraulic cargo cranes, hydraulic and electro-hydraulic service cranes and hose handling cranes. We also produce provision cranes of our own design.
